Well we completed our first week of our NSM and have to say I'm pretty proud of us. Now this is only the beginning and by about week three I'm sure I'll be itching to buy something...anything but for now I'm doing good with it.
Here is a run down of the first week. Feel free to ask any questions on certain items or purchases and I will elaborate.
Groceries- $100 pulled from ATM. I find it's easier for me to get the cash out and take that to the store and not the debit card. This keeps me more accountable. The first grocery trip came to roughly $40 and that was it for the week. As I told you all in my freezer cooking post we just bought half a cow so we are good on our meat for a while. I also went through my cabinets and planned most of my meals from things I already had at the house. The nest $20 went to a friend who had stocked me up on sausage when it went on sale at a local store for her. It was $1 per lb. I could NOT pass that up so my freezer now holds 15-20lbs of sausage. $10 went to a sale on cereal that I had coupons for. Cheerios for .75 a box...that's a stock up price. I also used about $16 on another grocery run for sugar and a few things likes that were needed.
At the end of the week we had about $15 left for groceries!! YAY!
We refrained from eating out all week and let me tell you how hard that was. On Wednesday Kinley goes to Awanas. This means we do not go home between preschool and church. Not my most proud mommy moment but yes I was letting him eat his candy from school to tie him over til we got home so he could have dinner! lol Like I said not my best mommy moment but it worked and he was good until we got home and had dinner after church. I also refrained from eating out that evening as well...I was starving when I got home but it's NSM and I have to make sacrifices.
Our pumpkin party was this weekend so I went shopping on Wednesday night for the food. I budgeted $100 for this party so as I'm going through Wal-Mart I have my phone out and I am adding up with the calculator as I put stuff in the buggy. I came out spend EXACTLY $99.96....WHEW that was close but I did it!!
I got our first round of blow money out last week as well. I have managed to keep mine with the exceptions of a few slushies. This is a traditions for us and our son when I pick him up for school on fridays so I will be sure to keep some of my blow money for this.
Overall considering we had a party and had company in all weekend I consider this first week of no spending a success. I'm hoping to keep the fire going and really see a huge difference at the end of the month!
While doing the NSM I have been trying to put together a few things to do with my lil family that doesn't cost much if any money. Here is what our Fall Bucket List looks like for this month!
